Our First Trip in the Trailer…in February!
Happy Family Day to both of our families and friends! As Brent and I get older, we continue to understand the importance of these very important relationships. As we all know, it's hard to maintain relationships in adulthood as everyone is busy with kids, grandchildren, jobs and aging parents (don't be offended parents), so we wanted to take a few minutes to say how much we truly appreciate and value each of you.
As you might know, we picked up our new home and went on our first adventure. Both of these videos can be found on the link below...please subscribe to our channel! We love the support!

A big thanks to Leisure Days in Ayr (close to Kitchener), for walking us through the process of buying our Escape. We spent the whole day there as they had to attach the hitch to the van and then conduct a 2 or 3 hour tutorial. We actually taped the whole thing so we (let's be honest-Brent) can refer back to it when he forgets what to do. Although, we took an RV out last March to Florida, we forgot about grey, fresh, and black water and we certainly had no idea how to "winterize" our new home!
A special thanks to Pedro, Grace and Jake at Leisure Days. You have been very supportive and patient.
On Saturday, we actually packed up our new baby and hit the road. Brent wanted to drive to Wasaga to Kite Ski, but guess what happened when we got there...found out Georgian Bay wasn't frozen! A little research will be in order next time...
Anyway, we drove to Friday Harbour, a cute resort complex in Innisfil. Last Labour Day Weekend we rented a condo to celebrate Brent's birthday. Brent was super pumped with the complex as he thought of it as a potential retirement place, but I wasn't that keen. I liked it for the weekend, but it can get crazy crowded as it's right on Lake Simcoe.
Regardless, Friday Harbour wouldn't let us park overnight, so we ended up driving to Innisfil Beach. It was absolutely a perfect location. We parked in the municipal parking lot so we were pretty sure we were going to get a knock on the door at wee hours in the morning telling us to move or at the least, a ticket. Turns out, neither one of those things happened.
In the morning, we met some great guys who were ice-fishing. A special thanks to Richard and Richard (not brothers) from South Africa who showed us how to drill into the ice, and to Sean and Arnold for letting us peak into their "hut". Also to Allen, who scored a Perch when we showed up! Unfortunately, I had to edit a lot of the fun out of our conversations because our mic didn't work that well in the crazy wind; but we got the essence.
If anyone in that area needs a docking system or anything to do with rocks, see Allen as he started his own business called Docks and Rocks! Good luck Allen. My step-dad owned his own television and repair business when I was growing up, so I know the importance of smaller, family owned businesses. They are a staple of smaller communities and should be supported.
